Now an award winning stop-motion film:
One of the most well-crafted stop-motion films we’ve seen. Deeply funny. (Skwigly Animation Magazine)
Griezelig, geestig en met grote liefde voor het horrorgenre gemaakt. (Trouw)
Dutch filmmaker Erik van Schaaik wrote the Under The Apple Tree poem as an amusing, creepy and certainly offbeat bedtime story. It’s a lot of fun to read to your bedside companion or to little children. They have to be brave, weird or downright freaky kids though, which is a good thing to be. It’s also very suitable to be performed round the ol’ campfire or over a can of apple cider. It’s definitely a must read for undertakers and people who easily get bored at weddings.
After three award winning animated short films Vent, The Phantom Of The Cinema and Pecker, Erik started work on the feature length animated film Hieronymus (scheduled for 2016) and his new short film Under the Apple Tree (scheduled for 2014). Erik picked up the super 8 camera at the age of twelve. His home made horror and fantasy flicks made it to local and international television. During his study graphic design at the academy of arts Erik started working for Dutch television, creating a series of animation films, live action drama and documentaries, always using a variety of styles and techniques. After graduation he continued in the field of children television creating e.g. the popular series Sausage Dog Titus. He wrote, animated, directed, composed and performed this film noir opera. www.erikvanschaaik.com www.undertheappletree-movie.com
