Application of the nursing process to the care of adult patients experiencing medical- surgical conditions in the health care continuum. A variety of health care settings are utilized. This course covers physiology and basic pathophysiology, causes of illness, communicable disease and disease transmission and prevention. The role of the vocational nurse in preventative health measures, health promotion, and referral to community health resources, patient/family education, therapeutic and rehabilitative aspects will be presented. Discussion/projects for ethical issues and critical thinking are incorporated in the course.
