Acerca del libro
The British Landmarks series revisits sites that are both harrowing and banal, sites that are ingrained in the British national consciousness, assessing the role of collective memory in our society.
The premise for this work is news as social tourism, where the audience view a version of Britain through their television screen, in newspapers and magazines. The series was made using disposable cameras, visiting that place you've always seen on the TV, creating snapshots that no longer remove the subject matter from daily life as the visual codes of the mass media do. British Landmarks examines the languages and codes of photography itself and the ways in which we use and receive it.
Closer to us than any ideal heritage site, British Landmarks appear mundane and awkwardly familiar.
