Rural North Dakota was once dotted with schools. Now, as the state empties out, many of these schools are left empty. Some find a new life, but most are left to deteriorate. Eventually they either fall down or are torn down.
I've attempted to document the school buildings. This hobby has seen my transition from film to digital photography. Sadly, some of the schools I photographed early in this hobby no longer exist.
I put an old gas station on the cover as a reminder that it's not just schools that are dying. Entire communities are dying.
