For the returning folks who know about the SPF experience and for those of you who have feared to take the seemingly pricey dive into the wallet to see what it's all about, Volume 5 has captured January though March of 2008's rail movement in Northern California and has an Interchange brought to you from the state of Minnesota as well as a bonus Interchange from our good friend Devol in Montana for the second straight volume (welcome to the family, buddy!).
With this volume's Artist Highlight we've been lucky enough to see a small glimpse into the massive arsenal of the Goonies' NIGHT, hailing from somewhere a lot farther than I would have assumed. It's quite an adventure to see the giant panels and types of cars this artist gets.
In an attempt to go with the times, every refrigerated car seen by the SPF in these first three months of 2008 have been compiled into one chilling section. Trust me, bring a coat.
All in all, Volume 5 has taken the railroad as it seen today and chronicled it for railfan's alike to see. If you can believe that I only make coffee money on these things and understand how hard it is to compile nearly 2000 images in the collecting and building process, please get a copy today! I promise you you'll be stunned and be able to say there's nothing like Southern Pacific Forever out there.
I have a passion for the railroad, some say addiction, but I prefer the former. I've been lucky enough to travel around the country and Canada to watch trains and meet other young enthusiasts like myself. I'm a fan of art and love the country, and todays railroad holds both quite well. At the present time I live next to a large railyard and am fortunate to have plenty of opportunities to photograph railcars daily. So, until I find myself living under the Thailand sun, I'll be resting patiently beneath the California sky waiting for another line to come rolling by.
