Volume I unravels the travels, the men and the ingredients that inspired her first few years as chef owner and Volume II will dive into her love of Mexico and her second restaurant Billy Goat's Cantina. In 1997 Niesen opened her first restaurant in the Atlanta suburb of Decatur, GA. Known for her ability to conjure a spirit in her designs, and bring boutique wines to the forefront, The Supper Club and Billy Goat's Cantina were unique and successful small businesses. Niesen has a great ability to transform a room for very little money and has been referred to as the queen of Sexy on the Cheap, a moniker she can live with. A Decade later, and two restaurants under her belt, the self taught chef owner sold her businesses and moved to the country. She does organic farming and teaches cooking classes at Habersham Hacienda, a 7 acre bucolic property she bought in the North Georgia Mountains. She writes of her decade in the restaurant business in her series Decade of Dish with humor, passion and a clever eye for detail. Her books are illustrated by her nephew Jeff who lives in Berlin, and she is working on a children's book with him currently. An interesting, emerging writer.
