Acerca del libro
The General Specific is a collection of photographs taken for ART 407 during the Spring semester of 2008. It is a cohesive portfolio which encompasses the development and exploration of photographer Kyle Florence as he progresses towards defining an identity for himself in photography.
The central themes of these works are geometric lines, structured composition, skewed perspectives, emptiness and solitude. These elements are accomplished through the use of repetition, exclusive framing, isolation of the subject, varying perspectives and harsh lighting situations.
All of these photographs were taken on either an Olympus OM-10 or Holga 120N and developed manually in the darkroom at San Diego State University.
