In 2009 I began a project to compile my photos for the year into one book. My plan was to go back to previous years and “catch up” so that I had my photos from prior years also organized into individual books. I feel that a book of the photos is much easier to pick up and look at any time. It also provides another form and means to archive the photos.
Well, I have not yet gone back to do the prior years, and here it is 2011 already. So, I am compelled to get the next most complete year of photos for 2010 into a printed format. And that is what this book is. In 2009, I presented the photos as "723 Moments from 2009." I like the theme of moments as that is what the photos represent – simply a photographic capture of that small slice of time in that year of our family's life. It is certainly not meant as a document of all those times in our life in an effort to preserve our lifestyle. These are truly random moments in our life when either I was compelled to take some pictures, or when my wife said, “Jim, get your camera.”
In the 2009 book, I simply presented the photos in chronological order. That seems a very practical method to present the moments. But, not wanting to get into a rut, I wanted to present 2010 in a different manner. So, this year's photos are organized into loose groupings. As an example, I have put all of the birthday photos together in one section rather than placing them where they appear on the calendar.
My family remains a constant source of joy and inspiration to me. I hope they may all enjoy the photos now and long into the future.
