"At My Grandmother's Tables" explores how I got interested in hospitality and the world of china, glass, and silver. This "picture-filled" book shows all the tools of welcoming guests into a "special event"--and paints a picture of how the past can happily influence the way we live today. This book hopes to inspire others to keep traditions and cherished holiday customs alive. In the 152 pages you will find photos, recipes, menus, and recollections. Pauline Mae Hunter continues to influence how I plan and welcome guests.

Simply stated, this book makes you feel good. The author loved his grandmother wholeheartedly and that warmed my heart! I wish I could meet Pauline, and better yet, I wish I had been a guest at her table. I hope the author follows up with another book, maybe with photos of his own tables since he obviously learned from the best.

This book is amazing. I couldn't put it down; I read it from cover to cover and then starting flipping back through it again. I don't have grandchildren, but if I ever do, I sure hope they love me the way Greg loved Pauline!!

Tour de force! A nice remembrance of another time. Today's hosts should take note...

A delicious book; a feast of several courses! The photos, text, family experiences, recipes, and loving relationships over several decades presents aspects of 20th-century American life that should be preserved and treasured.

What a wonderful memory of Pauline, always a gracious hostess. We still remember the snow drive from Sidney to Alliance on Christmas (however many years ago?)
Such a warm welcome by your family and a great night cap at Mrs. Hunter's home...I can smell the Tia Maria now!

Mrs. Violet Gura and I enjoyed this book enormously! She said that 'reading this book made me want so much to meet and know Pauline Hunter--and I think I know her after reading it!' I would add that the meticulous care taken in presenting these materials--of tantalizingly different kinds!--make this intriguing work of history and fashions also a work of art.
