Acerca del libro
This book is an autobiography of my life as a hearing-impaired woman. Born with no measurable hearing in my left ear and about 80% hearing in my right ear, the reader will learn how I coped with three significant hearing losses and repeatedly traversed from the world of deafness to the world of hearing. It is a sharing of a lifetime journey to a cochlear ear implantation in 1993.
The book will particularly benefit individuals who are coping with deafness or declining hearing thresholds. It is also a resource for those individuals who are considering a cochlear ear implant or for those who have already become a candidate for the implantation. The last section of the book is designed to assist those interested in researching a highly technological alternative for some profoundly deafened children and adults to hear again.
My motive for writing the book was not only to be a ardent advocate for cochlear ear implants, but I also wanted to write it in a manner that all people would feel inspired by a story that shows how love, faith and perseverance can counteract some of life's most difficult challenges.

Two Different Worlds (And, I've Lived in Both!) is my first book. When my parents met, World World II was underway. My father was a Lieutenant in the Army and my mother was one of the first Waves in the U.S. Navy. Born four months before the end of World War II, I was the second of six children. Of the six children, I was the only one who inherited the deafness gene. I was educated in public schools and colleges, and had a 39 year career in the mortgage lending industry. At the launching of the book, I work part-time at my church as a bookkeeper for its pre-school and as an assistant to the church administrator and the pastor.
