Burmese Days
Traveling to Burma has always been a dream of mine. Orwell sealed the deal for me, and after visiting the more accessible countries in South East Asia I decided to venture to Burma.
This book is a small collection of images shot when I was there. The thing that hangs them together is that they are all shot on film and are square format. They were shot on a yashica mat or a holga plastic toy camera.
Using this type of old odd equipment gave me a route into people’s lives, as they laughed pointed, or just stared at my silly looking cameras. Through sign language and showing them my camera I was able to exchange the interest for portraits.
Hopefully I cave captured some of the light, atmosphere and charm of this fantastic country. Its borders are closed but its people are open interested and engaging. If you get the chance go.........
