During my stay in Dhaka, Bangladesh´s capital in February / March this year, the cycle-rickshaws and the way they are decorated were a subject that attracted me very much. There is no other city on this planet , with that many rickshaws on the streets. Most of them are very beautifully decorated. The intention of this book is, to give a good impression of this "moving-art".
Born 1950 in Frankfurt / Main, Germany. Arts College ( Photography ) in Dortmund in the early 70`s. Since 2008 I am living in Berlin. I always liked to travel, first in Europe, then from 1984 on a lot of journeys with destination Asia, mainly the Indian Subkontinent ( India, Nepal, Tibet, Pakistan, Sri Lanka ). In 1994 I have been for 5 month in China. My last journey in winter ( 2010 / 2011 ) brought me again to India ( West-Bengal, Bihar ) and for the first time to Bangladesh.
Two books "Kolkata - a very personal look on the capital of West-Bengal" and "Bangladesh - The Art of Rickshaw Painting" are a result of this trip and a 3rd one on the Buriganga river in Dhaka will follow within the next few month.
