In a city of four million, a small group of individuals has maintained a stand alone farm tucked in the small neighborhood of Little Haiti. The farm was started by a man named Ray 33 years ago and has existed ever since. Although the farm is not fully sustainable, the residents believe in being conscious of everything you consume. Ray and his friends have created an environment in which anyone can obtain everything they need to survive without ever having to leave the farm. Currency is used, but is not commonly brought up in conversation. Instead trading is practiced here. People on the farm are friendly and vibrant. It seems as if they know something the rest of us don't know: Take, but always give back. One person, seed, and bike at a time they are trying to reverse the effects of consumerism and create a more sustainable environment in a city where no one else seems to be doing it.
