Lessons & Life-long Friends in Ladakh
Corcoran College of Art + Design, India Study Abroad 2010
de Nicole Dowd, design by Drew Ransom
Ten students followed Antje Kharchi, design professor at Corcoran College of Art + Design in Washington, D.C., to the remote highlands of the north India Himalayan mountain range. Thirty days of rugged travel, changing climates, and high altitudes brought these eleven strangers closer than they could have ever imagined. Student traveler, Nicole Dowd, shares her story of what she expected of the journey, how she dealt with illness, and the loving friendships that developed along the way. Join the 2010 study abroad group in their unforgettable experience, as they share their thoughts and express themselves through the mediums of art, design, and photography.
I designed this book with love. It was a pleasure for me to sift through the thousands of photos collected from the trip, and recount so many great experiences. I hope you love and enjoy this book as much as I do.
I graduated from the Corcoran in May 2010. I was so lucky to be hired as Junior Designer upon graduating. Working for the Corcoran keeps me informed about the worlds of art and design, and gives me the chance to do work that I enjoy. Design is fascinating. There is so much opportunity for us as designers to mold society as it allows us to share our personal believes and experiences. I hope you enjoy what I produce : )
