Acerca del libro
Process Book for the Favorite and Found Letter Project:
Graphic design is largely client driven and there are often a set of problems to resolve, which need to be communicated visually. The idea is that we as designers create for a purpose, our work is functional and shapes the visual world around us. With the Favorite and Found Letter Project I set out to create solely for the sake of doing so. Through this self initiated project I examined design elements and used design skills to create for no reason other than to produce something visually interesting and to have fun.
For this project I drew from some of my favorite and found letter forms that I’ve collected over the years on road trips, city walks, physical specimens, flea markets and books. My goal was to compile thirty-five of each letter in the alphabet, plus an ampersand, to end up with nine hundred and forty-five letters as research. From here I narrowed my collection down to one of each letter and began to redraw or create completely new letters inspired by my finds.
