Acerca del libro
Ah, Thailand, the Fairy Kingdom! It's not perfect, but it's the closest place to Paradise I know. Amid corruption, most of it harmless, and subsistence living, Thais are the happiest people I have ever encountered. Why so? They have a king who has devoted his life to the national welfare, strong family bonds, a warm climate, wonderful food, a low cost of living, including excellent and low cost health care, pleasant countryside, and a Buddhist way of life.
Thai culture is unusually accepting of gays. People do not think twice about them here, and so the gay movement is weak.
The photos in this volume show Chiang Mai, often listed as one of the five best cities in the world to retire to, the surrounding area, and the Thai North. Volume 2 will show Bangkok, the central, eastern, and southern parts of the country.
Características y detalles
Lieberdavid is a retired high school mathematics teacher with a life long interest in photography. A birthday gift of a Kodak Brownie from a sister got him started. Later he switched to 35mm and took pictures at school and of trains, another interest. Eventually he upgraded to the Leica system. The color enlargements turned out better than he had thought possible with 35mm. He has used Leica film cameras, single lens reflex or rangefinder models, and lenses exclusively for more than 30 years. Photographs of family and friends are of course usual subjects, but much of the material of his photography comes from travel experiences and a continuing interest in railroading. Favorite subjects are Maine, Thailand, and trains. Lieberdavid lives in Thailand for most of the year but spends summers at his Moosehead Lake home in Maine.
