Slamming on Concrete:
Poems by Homeless Youth in Chicago
de "Hello, My name is Monique. I became homeless at age 19..."
This is a book of superb and moving poetry by homeless youth, 25 years old and under, in Chicago.
The poems take a word, a thought, a chance encounter, an image; and create personal stories.
The poems have weight, depth and reveal endless transitions.
These youth are often alone.
They want only what all their peers want: security, respect, opportunity and love.
The images of the youth in the book add an additional layer to the impact
of their poetry.
All proceeds from the sale of this book go to support the H.E.L.L.O program in Chicago.
