When John Hasyn first visited Nunavut in Canada's Arctic region, he was in search of something good. Ever since Nunavut was formed in 1999, the majority of reports had been only of its socio-economic failures. "Generally, when I only see bad, I know there is something good just around the corner" says John.
What John found was both inspirational and transformative. Behind the ubiquitous satellite dishes, cell phones, SUV's, junk food and MP3 players, was a culture that remained rich in tradition.
Through his photographs, John speaks of traditional values such as respecting elders, sharing and companionship.
