An illustrated account of four summers spent traveling by sailboat and kayak through the coastal waters of the Pacific Northwest. The text is accompanied by paintings, sketches, photographs and maps. This is a lively personal account of learning to live as a nautical nomad, with lots of funny stories and insights into how travel brings new awareness and discoveries.
As a nautical nomad, I try to make sense of the watery world that swirls past. I paint, I draw, I sketch, I photograph, I write. I try to channel the ship's artists who accompanied the great voyages of exploration in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. I try to laugh often.
