Acerca del libro
This book is a result of an art exhibition focused on how I selected and then portrayed a subject while painting in the midst of the scene, en plein air. Painting directly from life gives me freedom to express how the scene moves me. Because the view is not restricted to what is able to be captured with a photograph, elements can be freely borrowed from surrounding areas, shapes altered to convey their impact, and the light, temperature and wind captured with colour and brushwork. The short time window, moving sun and other distractions prevent overworking and force immediacy with the paint. With the use of accompanying photographs of each painting spot and descriptive detail concerning what attracted me to the scene, I hope you will be able to understand and follow the artistic choices I have made while painting each subject.

Acerca del creador
Sharon is a full time professional artist. When she is not painting, she continues her love of teaching, having taught watercolour classes to adults for over a decade. She now travels throughout Western Canada giving workshops in watermedia and plein air techniques. Sharon is a signature member of the Alberta Society of Artists (ASA), International Plein Air Painters (IPAP), and the Federation of Canadian Artists (AFCA). In 2008, Sharon was listed as one of the six best local artists in Calgary by Avenue Magazine, and she is thrilled to have been featured in the book “Best of Artists Worldwide-Mixed Media”. Sharon’s paintings reflect her interest in surface texture, pattern, and colour. Subjects range from figures, landscapes, and florals, to their abstracted essence. Whether in her studio or on location, Sharon creates works that she hopes will reveal God's creative majesty. She paints in all of the watermedia, sometimes combining them with collage, as well as in oils.
