Acerca del libro
My grade 12 English teacher once indicated that my writing was like a white water rafting adventure instead of a smooth paddle on a calm lake. I didn’t see anything wrong with that. Since, I have been feverishly writing (rafting-style) for Canadian Running, Massage Therapy Canada, Fido Friendly, NOW, The Vancouver Sun, The Other Press, the Jane Goodall Institute, Room and a dozen women’s fiction anthologies.
In 2008 I started what became the foundation for a blog called Alphabet Soup. It was my way of attempting to harness and digest all that I was experiencing. I was in Africa for four months, and desperate to share all the textures and tastes that had enveloped me.
And when I crawl through these pages three years later, in the shook-up snow globe that is downtown Toronto, I see a connective thread. Even though I've catapulted from Uganda to the west coast of Canada to the Congo and back to Toronto.
Come, see where I've been.
See where I'm going.

The map unfolds and my lines of travel become a Spirograph. I write about here and there, and the spaces in between. I love to explore the landscapes and emotional geography that creates the foundation of our lives. It spurns the fierce need for adventure and learning. I've found it--in the Congo, in Venezuela, the Galapagos, in the jungles of Costa Rica, on the Pacific coast, in my childhood backyard, and right around the corner. But more often than not, I find it right here, in the company of words.
