The majority of these photos are of places and events I chanced upon while driving through the hills and small villages that are the backbone of Japan. The few exceptions are a handful taken during a trip to Okinawa.
I love the Japanese country side. There are numerous pockets of beauty awaiting discovery; a small temple in the woods, the ruins of a hill top castle, roadside statues, traditional festivals parading color and most beautiful of all, the changing of the seasons.
If you ever get the chance to escape the traditional tourist hot spots, try taking a trip into the small villages and tiny hamlets that dot hillsides and valleys. I think you will be pleasantly surprised.
Heres to the country-side!
Thank you for taking the time to look through this collection. I hope you enjoy.
