My creative pursuits have evolved over the past 30 years and now, with Light Upon the Land, I am putting forth dark, contemplative nature studies. This work is the outcome of much time spent moving between the West's unfettered development and our increasingly fragile and disappearing natural habitat. This has brought about a heightened awareness of the spirits that dwell therein. Sometimes they are animal spirits and at other times, remnants of ancient spirits. Often they are wounded, either by the harsh conditions of Mother Nature, or at the hands of humans. We can look at the history of the Native Peoples of the great plains, the disappearing flora and fauna, and the dark recesses of our collective unconscious. Or we can reflect on our past, and with justice, let it guide our future.
