Acerca del libro
The McLeod Scotties is a book of memories about our thirteen Scottish Terriers.
I decided to write this book after Angus died in March of 2010. A month later MacDougall passed away. Then in May of 2010 we adopted Sean from Scottie Kingdom Rescue of Dallas TX. Each event meant a revision of the book and more photos. It seemed to be an evolving project with each passing month.
Finally the time had come to bring this book to print. My older brother Scott McLeod helped review the book for the inevitable errors. Dave Post, another Scottie fanatic offered to act as a second set of eyes during the writing process.
The Doctors and staff of First Regional Animal Hospital (www.first24vet.com), to whom we owe the health of our Scotties participated in this book too. Some of the chapters talk about the medical history of our Scotties as well as their passing. At first I was reticent to dwell on some of the sad aspects of our Scotties. What caused me to include detailed medical information is that responsible companion animal ownership involves not only adoption, but a commitment to the health, both physical and mental, of your companion. We are the guardians of our animal companions.
Our Scotties have brought years of joy and happiness to our family. Duffie, our first Scottie, taught us very quickly that Scotties rule the house, we are just allowed to live with them. Scottie independence teaches us we need to tolerate others as much as Scotties tolerate us.
Our bakers dozen Scottish Terriers were each unique, bringing to our family their individual quirks and temperaments. When you are sad your Scottie will be there to comfort you; be a good listener; and, offer a different view of your problems.
Scottish Terriers have fully decoded their human companions. They know what you need and when you need it.
I hope you take away from The McLeod Scotties an understanding that there is a reason God put these animals on the Earth.

Acerca del creador
I grew up in San Diego where I met Carol, my wife of now 40 years. We moved to Arizona 32 years ago. We have 2 children (1 married), 3 grandchildren and 5 Scotties in the pack. After retiring in 2009 I decided to start writing a book. With The McLeod Scotties completed I am now moving on to book number two. I recently had a article I wrote published in Great Scots Magazine (September 2009).
