Acerca del libro
Idamae was my grandmother and this book is her story.
Born and raised in Shelton, Nebraska, Idamae discovered at a very early age that her greatest desire was to serve God through art. While admiring the stained glass windows in the Methodist Church during Sunday services, she dreamed of being an artist and painting these scenes of Jesus that so captured her heart.
Later, when the Seventh-day Adventist held evangelistic meetings in a big tent in Shelton in 1919, Idamae embraced the Sabbath message and learned the truth about the nightly appearances of her late grandfather. She then met and married a Seventh-day Adventist preacher/teacher. Wherever the Lord led them, she used her artistic talents, eventually fulfilling her childhood dreams of becoming an accomplished artist as well as mother, speaker, and oil painting instructor.
I was privileged to inherit her Bible when she died. From looking through her Bible and observing all the texts she underlined, I discovered she especially enjoyed the book of Ecclesiastes; a book which I believe exemplifies her life:
"I know that there is nothing better for men than to be happy and do good while they live." Ecclesiastes 3:12 NIV
"Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with your might; for there is no work or device or knowledge or wisdom in the grave where you are going." Ecclesiastes 9:10 NKJV
"After all is said and done, there is only one thing that really matters. Respect your heavenly Father and do what He says. God knows what's best. His will for us is written out in the Ten Commandments." Ecclesiastes 12:13 The Clear Word
