of editing the B.P.A magazine
“SPORT PARACHUTIST”
which has now metamorphosed
into “SKYDIVE The Mag’.
Two individuals whom I could
always rely on were
John Partington Smith
and Phil Wells.
Their cartoons made a major
contribution in giving the magazine
the international reputation
it now richly deserves.
"John’s cartoons always hit the spot
with his caricatures of ”SUPERFLY”
(who bore an uncanny
resemblance to himself)
always managing to hit the
right note and never failing
to raise a smile, allowing
us to laugh at ourselves.
Phil’s cartoon style was a
single topical highly detailed panel,
usually with a great deal more happening than the single joke.
He had an uncanny knack of
putting his finger
right on the nub of what was going
on, understanding the habits and
customs of skydivers expressed
with intelligence and humour.
This publication is
a tribute to their work
Enjoy !
