In 2007, I was hand-selected by my Art History professor, Dr. John A. Cone, to participate with a dozen other students in a six-week study abroad program hosted by the NEA and sculptor Greg Wyatt entitled, "Shakespeare, Rembrandt and Themes of Interiority". We traveled from NYC to Giverny, Paris, Amsterdam, Stratford-Upon-Avon and London. We were tutored in drawing, painting, sculpting and critically read two Shakespearean plays and several Shakespearean sonnets. We visited several museums, being given red-carpet access to rare drawings, sketches, etchings and other works by Shakespeare and Rembrandt along with other associated artists. We also had our personal journals of the program published by Industria Grafica Valdarnese in Italy and had self-sculpted bronzes cast by the Fonderie de Coubertin in France. The program was designed to be an exploration of the self through art. This book is a faithful reproduction of my original journal.
