The Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment is known worldwide for their ceremonial duties which they perform to exceptional standards. The soldiers and officers of the Regiment have mostly all seen active service in places such as Iraq, Afghanistan and Bosnia as reconnaissance soldiers.
In 'Visions of the Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment' I wanted to share the spectacular visions the Regiment creates in the course of ceremonial duties, even 'behind the scenes'. It is no surprise that the Regiment is the envy of the world and instills huge pride in all involved and produces very memorable sights for everyone who sees it.
Good images are not always the big view, sometimes it is the detail that makes it and I have tried to capture both.
Jasper Dalgliesh has been taking photographs for over 20 years and covers a wide range of subjects. His prime aim is for the creative pleasure and whilst there is a need for an artistic eye and ability, he firmly believes that ‘being in the right place, at the right time – with a camera!’ is the most important factor. His first camera was an Olympus OM1 followed by a series of Minolta cameras. Since the advent of digital, he now uses a Canon EOS 5D. Jasper spent time in the Household Cavalry, British Army as well as training as a reconnaissance helicopter pilot. Flying allowed him to shoot from some stunning advantage points as well as travel. He flew in the UK, Belize, Canada as well as across Europe. Living in Hampshire, UK, he now works in the telecommunications sector as a business development manager but continues to take photographs for pleasure. Commissions are undertaken on application.
