Holy Ground Forever moves through the demolition and shattered remains of a San Francisco church, evoking images of injury, illness, and the end of life. The property became the site for twenty luxury condominiums and the distraught parishioners scattered to nearby sanctuaries seeking new roots. The images in this book form a meditation on the meaning of loss and remembrance, and the consolation and strength to be found in what remains behind.

Jean Collier Hurley photographs urban neighborhoods within the United States and abroad. Her images are dominated by form, line and color, often incorporating a deeper meaning. Holy Ground Forever emerged from a collection of large prints selected for exhibit in San Francisco City Hall and at the Center for Photography in Woodstock, New York. The JCH portfolio of work also includes The Beach, images of stones and sand as a meditation on the serenity of a walk on the beach, and Urbanista, which captures the visual pulse of urban living in the signs and symbols that connect us with one another.
