The art project against stigma in mental health
de Nicolas Laborie (images) & Rebecca Lori (words)
The aim of STIGMA is to challenge people's points of view regarding mental illness.
Through the medium of art, photography, film and creative writing our mission is to show people that mental illness is indeed a 'real' illness, something that needs to be respected and understood on a deeper level – after all 1 in every 4 people will suffer from a form of mental illness at one point in their lives.
Proceeds from the sales of STIGMA are donated to SANE, a UK-wide charity set up to improve the quality of life for people affected by mental illness.
SANE raise awareness, combat stigma about mental illness, provide care and support for people with mental health problems, their families and carers. They also initiate research into the causes and treatments of serious mental illness such as schizophrenia and depression and the psychological and social impact of mental illness.
