Acerca del libro
Over a 100 years ago a Victorian morality had an impact on how people went about swimming and enjoying the seashore. This became central to the original style of construction of the early beach boxes. Beach Bathing boxes of this type are not limited to only Australia but also appear on beaches in England, France and Italy. European bathing beach boxes exist to this day.
Today and interesting grouping of the beach boxes are just south of the Melbourne CBD. Located on a small strip of beach front are 82 unique beach boxes in the Brighton area. The boxes located here are uniform in scale, alignment and proportion. As basic shelters, they all preserve a classic Victorian architectural style with timber framing, and corrugated iron roofs.
The small colorful sheds have always intrigued me, from the photographic perpective of color, shape and form. Enjoy this breif photographic study of the Brighton beach box strip. This book reflects my photography of the colorful structures and the details.
