Forest Hill Cemetery, on the west side of Madison, Wisconsin, occupies a tree-lined, 140-acre tract with winding roads over gently rolling hills. The park-like setting has served as Madison's primary cemetery since 1858, a year after the city purchased the original land.
Forest Hill holds a wealth both of history and art. The history includes the families who the area, including many past notables of Madison and Wisconsin. The photographs in this collection focus mostly on the artwork -- the engravings and images -- on memorials and grave stones, along with some general photos.
