Acerca del libro
Around 1 in 10 women suffer from Postnatal Depression after having a baby. Most women ignore the symptoms and mistake their emotions for a case of the baby blues and others suffer alone, too ashamed to ask for help. As common as Postnatal Depression is, it is rarely discussed.
'An Intimate Distance' is about the uncomfortable relationship between me and the subject in the photographer/subject situation, and how much that can be revealed about them through these images. The viewer is restricted to images depicting everyday domestic scenes which go unnoticed, this forces them to consider what scenes occur outside the camera frame; the absence of people represent the lonely isolated state of mind of the subject.
