Acerca del libro
No Way Out
"Care in the Community" was a policy set up in the 1980s by the Conservative government. It's aim was to move people with mental health problems out of 'prison like' Victorian asylums and back into the community which meant closure of the majority of these institutions in the 1980s and 1990s.
This book is a record of the abandonment and decay of one such asylum. Many of these splendid buildings have simply been boarded up and left to be reclaimed by nature. It is as if the inhabitants have vanished into thin air. What is left behind is a harrowing reminder of the treatment of the 'inmates'.
This is what I found there...
