This English setting of the Te Deum Laudamus is for SSATTB with organ interludes. A reduced piano part is included for use in rehearsals, and the work is also set for orchestra.
Thought to have been written by an Albanian bishop in 5 AD this canticle is an integral part of the Matins service in the Anglican communion, and in both Latin and English in the Roman Catholic church.
At eight and a half minutes long, one considered that rhythmic variety and flowing melodies were essential to maintain interest, so this is indeed a paean of praise !
