As part of my interest in sacred sites I have recently started to explore the sacredness of trees - they have long been recognized as a symbol of life and regeneration and, to some, of mystical knowledge and space.
Trees, for me, have a memory that holds events from the past which manifests in changes to their shape, making them a magical living being. I have always felt energised when in their presence, drawn by roots, shapes, colours and the atmosphere of each place. I recognise that this is also the experience of others from the prayers and memorials that are created around them. This book looks at the form, function, texture and environment of trees and the evidence of the affinity many people have with them as sacred spaces.
