When people see shows like Animal Cops on T.V. most people think, “How could someone do that?” or “That's just too awful to happen here.”
Unfortunately, it does happen; and unlike a television show, you can't just change the channel when you see something you don’t want to see. “But those shows always happen somewhere else,” you say.
Sadly, you could film a show worse than anything you would see on T.V. just in Chester County, South Carolina, alone. When you think about the state as a whole, the problem only gets worse.
Chester County, South Carolina, is made up of 586 square miles, and there are only a few Animal Control Officers to work that whole area. Their jobs can range from trying to find lost pets, to taking abused or neglected animals. A lot goes on in this small unit, some good and some bad; but hopefully after seeing the photographs in the book people will want to adopt animals from the shelter and give them a second chance they might not otherwise have.
