Acerca del libro
An avid outdoor explorer, Cory Silken's photographic and outdoor interests lie in yachting. He has crewed aboard the classic America’s Cup 12 Metre Class fleet in Newport, Rhode Island and currently enjoys racing Firefly, a classic wooden Herreshoff S Class boat, in Narragansett Bay. Based in the Northeast U.S.A., Silken travels throughout the world photographing boats, superyachts, and ships for assignments and fine art work. His work is regularly appears in local and international yachting and luxury lifestyle magazines, and has been published in several books. Silken also collaborates with top industry film makers to provide full motion and still media solutions. His portfolio can be viewed online at www.corysilken.com, or visit his Newport, Rhode Island gallery, Mariner Fine Art.
Renowned for his unmistakable, dynamic sepia-tone panoramas, Silken's new images in Color of Wind, presented by Bacardi are saturated with the brilliant colors of some of the most breathtaking ports of call, including Grenada, Newport, Palma de Mallorca, Porto Cervo, and St. Barth’s. Stretched five feet wide on “gallerie wrap” canvas, the scope of this exhibition invites the viewer to experience a taste of the high life, including exceptional locations and multi-million dollar superyachts. Silken's remarkable timing captures the interaction between yachts, and the dynamic play of sailing. Whether invited aboard the newest superyacht or flying in a helicopter, Silken uses his privileged access to these private vessels to find unique vantage points and delivers an arresting perspective on the sport. The scope of this collection of works takes the viewer out of daily life and into the beauty of motion, color, and competition that lives on the water. By playing with space and geometry, Silken brings the viewer into the action of the world's most dramatic locations. The exhibition, sponsored by Bacardi and produced with StudioMilano, runs concurrently with Bacardi Miami Sailing Week, from March 7-13, 2010.
