Cyanotype is an old, forgotten printing process used in the 1800's in which two chemicals are mixed together to coat paper. In this method, ultraviolet light, pure light, is used to cause a chemical reaction. The result of this reaction leaves only a blue dye, Prussian Blue. To develop the photograph, one must flush it in flowing water. Once the water has saturated the image, the impurities are washed away, leaving only the non-soluble Prussian Blue, creating the image.

An autograph is a reflection of the author. It is something left, but also something interpreted.

This body of work is a visual journey. It is a collection of love, experience, hope, and fear.

As you turn these pages, surrender yourself to the process. Allow yourself to be immersed in the flowing waters, exposed by the light, and ultimately, able to see bits of yourself reflected back.

Alex Lisic is an accomplished photographer and writer currently living in Cleveland, TN. Alex was born in Roanoke, Virginia, raised in Cookeville, TN, and is currently studying at Lee University (Cleveland, TN) and Tennessee Technological University (Cookeville, TN) pursuing degrees in Communications and Organizational Leadership. This is the first book he has published, though he has had many literary and photographic works publicized throughout his life.
