Acerca del libro
The summer of 2006 introduced me to the amazing place of Zanzibar. Stone Town is the capital of Zanzibar and was my place of work and home for almost 6 months. It is an alluring city with a labyrinth of narrow crooked alleyways, packed with nineteenth-century Arabic style mansions, palaces, and bazaars. My brief time in Zanzibar was more than I ever expected.
The pictures presented in this book contain portraits of the children (watotos) I got to know in this picturesque city. The photos are only a sample of the special moments I captured, printed and shared with each child. Each photo holds a special memory and has some sort story behind it. For me the stories are in their smiles, the gazes in their eyes and in their body gestures. I hope that you will experience the joy I felt when I first saw these images through the lens of my camera and even now as I look at them years later.
